The club needs members that shoot precision .22 rifles to help us with our matches against Hoggard High School. Contact Tom Mix: 763-0870 if you are interested.
General Discussion: Since there were a lot of new faces at the meeting, we had a good discussion of some issues members want to see addressed. Safety at all times was the primary discussion, one member related how someone was accidentally wounded at a gun show in SC. Every member should practice safe gun handling at all times and insist others do also. There may be a short safety class given at the new member orientation every year. There may be new name tags to provide a little more security, several members noted they had seen people at the club they were not sure were members.
Meeting adjourned at 7:49 pm.
END OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for the 1/9/06 Meeting

BUCCANEER RANGE REGULATOR GAZETTE
Headline: Rocky Point Rebel Goes To The Theater For a Little Culture
A cowboy named Rocky Point Rebel lay sprawled across three entire seats in the posh Amarillo Dance Hall and Theater.
When the usher came by and noticed Rebel's condition, he whispered to Rebel "Sorry sir, but you're only allowed one seat."
Rebel groaned but didn't budge. The usher became more impatient: "Sir, I don't care if you are drunk-if you don't get up from there I'm going to have to call the manager." Once Again Rebel just groaned. The usher briskly marched back up the isle and in a few moments was back with the manager. Together they both tried repeatedly to move Rebel, but with no success......Finally they summoned Sheriff Holliday. The Sheriff surveyed the situation briefly then asked Rebel, "All right cowboy, what's your name?" "Rocky Point Rebel" groaned the cowboy......."Where ya from Rebel" asked the Sheriff. With great pain in his voice Rebel replied............"The Balcony"............OOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooh, I bet that will leave a mark..........
The Buccaneer Range Regulators started the new year off with a bunch of bangs at the January match........We had 20 cowboys and cowgirl and 4 stages in this months match. After the match, there was a barbeque dinner put on by the Deer Dog Contest crowd and everybody that wanted some got to eat......I really like it when there's something to eat and I didn't have to cook it........
Scores went like this......

Congratulations to all the winners and my condolences to all the cowboys that Carolina Rose outshot......Thanks to Blue Ridge Davidson who showed up at Buccaneer to shoot his second ever cowboy match and also Seth Hawkins who shot his first match with us....Don't forget that we've changed our monthly match to the second Saturday of each month.....So until I see you in February........Don't forget to........."Take a kid shooting"..........Respectfully submitted.....Ned Bluntline
From the Legislative Bench... The broadbrush painting of our BGC membership falls into two categories, active and inactive... I have been in both. I suspect the majority of us have fallen into both, back and forth, through the years as our time is rationed from the responsibilities of essential and non-essential. There is no criticism intended, it's just the way life is. Thankfully, there is a core group of members that provide the steady foundation for the club so that I may be "variable" from time to time. There are many avenues for "activity" within the club, most of them enjoyable and some, well, just necessary... cleaning the clubhouse bathrooms comes to mind.
With legislative issues continually affecting our shooting interests, both pro and con, we have an excellent opportunity to express our concerns. Admittedly, the "power of the pen" cliche was well before the M-16, however, you can make a difference by being active in the political world... contacting your representatives in government, writing letters to the editor of a local "mullet wrapper", etc. A wealth of information is available on the Internet, the National Rifle Association - Institute for Legislative Action ( www.NRAILA.org ) provides a weekly update regarding national issues as well as state coverage. There are other organizations with merit... I will provide contact information as we go along.
I will be including legislative information in the BGC newsletter as appropriate... I welcome your thoughts and ideas. My contact information is listed on the masthead on the left... hmmm, maybe we should move it to the right.
