START OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for the 10/13/03 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at the Sweetwater Café by Vice President David Morgan at 7:00 P.M.

The minutes of the last meeting (September 8, 2003), as appearing in the newsletter, were  accepted.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Skeet Ray Campbell advised there were 9 or 10 shooters at yesterdays match.

Action Pistol Ray Campbell advised there were 5 or 6 shooters and Jay DellaBella, who is from NY, shot a perfect score in the falling plate match plus shooting real well in each match.  Last month he had a good shoot as well which was reported in the newsletter.  Discussion.

Cowboy They had a good time shooting, celebrating a birthday and they were joined by a couple of shooters from Columbus County as reported in the newsletter.

Training In September they ran a NRA Basic Pistol course followed by a Concealed Carry Course for 3 people.  Discussion.

Legislative Secretary Lear mentioned the lack of response by Senator Elizabeth Dole to letters from two law enforcement organizations, made up of active and retired law enforcement officers, regarding the carrying of concealed weapons outside an officers area of jurisdiction.  Members need to learn where those running for office stand in regard to the 2nd Amendment as well as keeping tract of those who have been elected.  Discussion.  NC Senator and Candidate for Governor Patrick Ballantine, is known to be a supporter of the 2nd Amendment. [Editors Note: Senator Ballantine has address members of the club in the past and he made his strong support of the 2nd Amendment known to those attending.]   The position of the Mayor Elect of Wilmington was not known to those at the meeting.  Congressmen McIntire and Representative Mc Comas are known supporters.  Ray Campbell advised that NC Senatorial Candidate Woody White handles legal matters for the NRA which tells you where he stands.

North Brunswick will host the East Regional State Air Rifle Championship Match on Saturday, March 13th and Saturday, March 14th, 2004.   He needs individuals to score targets.  If you have scored before and would like to help please call David at 452-3416 or E-mail at MillerK5@aol.com.  David noted that the scorers from the NRA National Jr. Air Gun Team Championship had a ZERO error rate.
